Despite Trump losing Michigan by over 150,000 votes, Maddock and 15 others signed phony certificates claiming to be the legitimate electors and attempted to deliver the votes. Maddock, who later served as co-chair of the Michigan Republican Party, spread false claims of voter fraud and deleted a tweet promoting an unfounded conspiracy theory. She cited the 1960 election in Hawaii as precedent for sending dueling electors, but there are key differences between the two situations. Maddock declined to comment on the report.
