Michigan Republican Charged in False Elector Plot Strikes Cooperation Deal with AG

James Renner, a Michigan Republican accused of participating in a fake elector plot, had all criminal charges dropped after reaching a cooperation deal with the state Attorney General's office. Renner was one of 16 Republicans who acted as false electors for then-President Donald Trump in 2020. The dropped charges come after investigations into the false certificates signed by Trump supporters in seven battleground states, including Michigan.
