North Dakota enacts strict abortion ban.

North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has signed a near-total abortion ban bill into law, making it one of the most restrictive abortion bans in the US. The law only allows exceptions for rape or incest within the first six weeks of pregnancy and when the procedure is deemed necessary to prevent the death or serious health risk to the pregnant female. Physicians who violate the new law could be charged with a felony, and an abortion can’t be performed until a woman is offered the opportunity to see an “active ultrasound” at least 24 hours before the scheduled procedure.
