New York City Mayor Eric Adams expressed frustration after his meeting with Biden administration officials in Washington, DC, admitting that "help is not on the way" to address the migrant crisis overwhelming the city's shelter system. Despite his 10th trip to DC seeking federal aid, Adams left without optimism and acknowledged that the immediate future would require New Yorkers and his administration to navigate the challenge on their own. The meetings with FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries also proved uneventful. With over 150,000 migrants arriving in NYC since the crisis began, the city is facing a budget shortfall of $12 billion, while federal assistance has been limited to less than $150 million.
