Oklahoma County Leaders Caught on Audio Discussing Killing Reporters and Lynching Black People

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt is seeking the resignation of four county officials, including the McCurtain County Sheriff, after a newspaper released an audio recording of them discussing hitmen, digging holes, and making racist comments about Black people. The recording was made by the newspaper's publisher, who left a voice-activated recorder in the room after a county commissioner's meeting. The FBI and the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office are investigating the incident, and more than 100 people gathered outside the courthouse calling for the officials' resignation.
