Prosecutors are seeking a 25-year prison sentence for Stewart Rhodes, the founder of the Oath Keepers, who was convicted of seditious conspiracy for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Rhodes plotted an armed rebellion with members of his far-right extremist group to stop the transfer of presidential power from Trump to Biden. Prosecutors argued that Rhodes deserves a longer sentence for terrorism because the goal was to influence the government through intimidation or coercion. The sentencing recommendations come a day after jurors convicted four leaders of another extremist group, the Proud Boys, of seditious conspiracy.
