Protesters Arrested at DeSantis' Florida Capitol Office Over Education Bill

Protesters flooded Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' office after the Republican legislature passed education bills that Democrats have decried as racist and transphobic. The bills prevent students and teachers from being required to use pronouns that don't correspond to a person's biological sex, ban diversity programs in colleges throughout the state, and would ban schools from teaching about gender identity and sexual orientation up to the eighth grade. DeSantis, who is expected to sign the bills this week, has called for such teachings to be prohibited in all grades. Dozens of protesters were arrested and face trespassing charges and a one-year ban from the Capitol grounds.
