Former President Donald Trump repeated election lies and disparaged writer E. Jean Carroll in a CNN town hall, one day after a federal jury found him liable for battery and defamation in a civil trial stemming from allegations he raped Carroll in the mid-1990s. Trump also said he's "inclined" to pardon his supporters convicted of various charges for their roles in the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the Capitol and efforts to alter the results of the election. He also proposed that Republicans should not give in on their insistence on spending cuts in exchange for raising or suspending the debt limit. Trump equivocated on whether he wants Ukraine to win, as Russia continues its unilateral assault on the sovereign nation.
