Springfield City Council Takes Steps to Support and Celebrate LGBTQ+ Community.

The Springfield City Council passed a resolution to improve the culture of inclusion and belonging for LGBTQ+ and all citizens in the city. The resolution affirms the commitment to the Five Pillars of Change detailed in the 2022 Mayor’s Initiative on Equity and Equality Report and demonstrates the City Council’s dedication to collaboration. The resolution was met with both supporters and those against it, with 14 members of the community voicing their concerns during a heated discussion. The resolution passed with an 8-1 vote, with Councilman Derek Lee being the only member to vote against it.
