The TikTok Ban Debate: Perspectives and Solutions.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) posted her first TikTok video in support of the app, saying that banning it would be an unprecedented move and not a solution to the issue of data privacy. She argued that all social media companies collect "troves of deeply personal data" without significant regulation and that the solution is to protect Americans from this kind of data harvesting. Ocasio-Cortez also questioned why Congress had not received a classified briefing on the issue and said that if a decision to ban TikTok was that important to national security, the public deserves to know what kind of information could potentially be leaked by the platform.
