Trump Requests Delay in Classified Documents Trial Until After 2024 Election

Former President Donald J. Trump's legal team has once again requested a delay in his trial on charges of mishandling classified documents, this time proposing to move the start of the trial from May to mid-November, after the 2024 election. Trump's lawyers cited difficulties in accessing evidence and claimed that the trial should be postponed due to lack of a fair trial while running for office. If the trial were delayed and Trump were to win the election, he could potentially order the charges to be dropped or pardon himself. Prosecutors have accused Trump's lawyers of intentionally derailing the timing of the trial, while Trump sees winning the election as his best chance to avoid legal consequences in the multiple criminal cases he is facing.
