Trump's 14th Amendment appeal reaches Colorado Supreme Court

The Colorado Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case regarding whether former President Trump should be barred from the 2024 ballot under the 14th Amendment. A lower court previously found that Trump engaged in insurrection but determined that the constitutional prohibition on holding office after engaging in "insurrection or rebellion" did not apply to the presidency. Both Trump and the group seeking to remove him from the ballot have appealed the decision. Trump's attorneys argue that the lower court made errors in its ruling, while the left-leaning group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) is asking the court to rule that the amendment does apply to the presidency.
