Former President Donald Trump posted an all-caps rant on his social media network, referring to the American legal system as “the Gestapo” and calling Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg a “Soros-backed animal who just doesn’t care about right or wrong no matter how many people are hurt.” Trump raised fears of violence after calling on his followers to protest his predicted arrest in Bragg’s investigation, but neither a bust nor major demonstrations materialized. It’s not yet certain that Trump will be indicted at all in connection with the DA’s investigation. If he is arrested or indicted, Trump would become the first president in US history to face criminal charges after leaving the Oval Office.
