Referring to the charges against former President Donald Trump as simply "the documents case" understates the severity of his alleged crimes and the threat he poses to national security. Trump repeatedly ignored the proper handling of classified materials and stole scores of items that were not his, which could put the lives of Americans and our national interests and those of our allies at risk. He obstructed justice and went to great lengths to do so, raising questions about his motives. The cases against Trump should not be seen as political spectacles but as an effort to protect the nation from a dangerous and corrupt man.
