US Doctor Faces Hearing for Treating 10-Year-Old Rape Victim

A doctor in Indiana faces disciplinary action after speaking out about offering abortion care to a 10-year-old rape victim last June. The Indiana Medical Licensing Board heard a complaint from Indiana’s Attorney General Todd Rokita, accusing the doctor of violating both state and federal law. The complaint seeks “appropriate disciplinary action” against the doctor, who has denied any violation of patient privacy laws. Healthcare groups with ties to the doctor have come to her defence, arguing that attacks on her professionalism are “politically motivated”.
