White House Press Secretary Violated Hatch Act, Watchdog Finds

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre violated the Hatch Act by using her official authority to influence the result of an election, according to the Office of Special Counsel. Jean-Pierre repeatedly used the phrase "mega MAGA Republicans" when referring to Republican candidates during a White House briefing in November 2021. The conservative watchdog group Protect the Public's Trust filed the complaint against her. This is at least the fourth Biden administration official found to have violated the Hatch Act.
