Wisconsin Secretary of State La Follette Resigns from Democratic Party.

Wisconsin's Democratic Secretary of State Doug La Follette has resigned from his position, citing a lack of resources and staffing levels. Governor Tony Evers has appointed former Treasurer Sarah Godlewski to fill out the four-year term. The secretary of state has almost no official duties and has not been in charge of elections since 1974. La Follette won reelection in November over a Republican who wanted to shift election duties to the office. Godlewski becomes the third woman to hold the position in state history.
