Nationwide Protests Demand Gaza Ceasefire, Disrupt Major Highways

Thirty-two protesters were arrested in Center City Philadelphia after blocking traffic on the westbound lanes of the Schuylkill Expressway. The group, consisting of about 150 people from Jewish Voice for Peace, gathered on the Spring Garden Street Bridge, displaying banners calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. Protesters left their vehicles and shut down the highway for approximately 25 minutes before being apprehended by Philadelphia and Pennsylvania State Police. The demonstrators were cited for being on the highway, and state police will determine any additional charges. The protest coincided with the last night of Hanukkah, and organizers have stated that the demonstrations will continue.
