Moss Landing battery storage fire triggers shelter-in-place and road closures

Firefighters responded to a structure fire at the Moss Landing Power Plant’s north side early Friday, triggering shelter-in-place orders for nearby areas as CAL FIRE and the EPA monitor air quality; Dolan Road is closed between Highway 1 and Via Tanques Road and traffic on Highway 1 is affected, while local schools are sheltering indoors. The Moss Landing site includes large battery storage facilities, including a Vistra Energy unit with a history of battery fires, and cleanup is ongoing.
