Squatters Take Over Homes with Fake Leases in Texas and Florida

A group of squatters moved into a Houston, Texas home without the owner's authorization and changed the locks. One of the squatters claimed to have a lease and paid $6,000 to live on the property, but the lease was proved to be false. Houston police initially declined to take action, but were able to prove the lease was false and informed the squatters they had to vacate the property. Home security expert Richard Christian recommends making sure a home looks occupied and using physical barriers and security cameras to deter trespassers.
