"Parents Demand Transparency and Justice for Sons Killed by Memphis-Area Law Enforcement"

The parents of two Black men who died in separate encounters with law enforcement in Shelby County, Tennessee, are demanding transparency and justice. Jarveon Hudspeth, 21, was shot by a Shelby County sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop in June, while Courtney Ross, 19, died after being detained by Memphis police in August. Video footage released by the district attorney's office shows the deputy shooting Hudspeth, who attempted to drive away. Civil rights attorney Ben Crump, representing both families, highlighted the need for accountability and expressed concerns about the recurring deaths of unarmed Black men during interactions with the police. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is conducting investigations into both incidents.
