Family to establish foundation in memory of son who drowned in Alaska mud flats.

The family of Zachary Porter, a 20-year-old student from Lake Bluff, Illinois, who drowned in an Alaskan mud flat, plan to establish a foundation in his memory. Porter was known for his compassion and love for the outdoors, and was studying economics at Washington University. The accident occurred in Turnagain Arm, an estuary known for its dangerous mud flats. The family said the foundation's mission will be to ensure other young people have the same opportunities Porter had. At least three other people have drowned in the area over the years.
