New Yorkers Divided: Some Want Out, Others Happy to Stay

A Siena College Research Institute quality of life poll revealed that 27% of New York state residents want to move away in the next five years due to concerns about crime, high housing costs, struggling schools, inept political leadership, and soaring taxes. A total of 40% of respondents said New York is not a good place to raise children, and 26% said the overall quality of education is fair or poor. The state has seen a population decline, with three of New York City’s five counties seeing some of the largest declines in America last fiscal year.
