Florida's Early Morning Emergency Alert Test Causes Disruption and Apology

The Florida Division of Emergency Management issued an apology after an Emergency Alert System push notification went off around Florida at 4:45 a.m. The alert was supposed to be on TV, and not disturb anyone already sleeping. The state is taking the appropriate action to ensure this will never happen again and that only true emergencies are sent as alerts in the middle of the night. Some residents who had Test Alert notifications turned off still received the alert. #EmergencyAlert is trending nationally on Twitter.
