Montana set to be first state to fully ban TikTok.

Montana is set to become the first state in the US to ban TikTok entirely after its legislature passed a bill citing concerns about the Chinese government potentially using the app to conduct spying in the US. The bill, which would go further than other states' proposals, establishes a fine of $10,000 per violation for entities that break the law. TikTok has maintained that it is independent of China and not subject to any requests for data from the Chinese government. The ban would be scheduled to take effect on Jan. 1, 2024.
