Montana Takes Controversial Stand with TikTok Ban

Montana has become the first state to ban TikTok, with the ban set to take effect on January 1, 2024. The ban is due to privacy concerns over the Chinese-owned app, but TikTok and the ACLU are fighting back, claiming there is not enough evidence to support the idea that TikTok is a threat to national security. Christian W. Poole, a Montana resident and TikToker, worries that the ban could be the start of more government control and a huge infringement on freedom of speech, press, and media. Poole, who has amassed a following of over 400,000 on the app, plans to keep posting for now but may have to migrate his followers to other platforms if the ban goes through.
