The TikTok Ban Debate Divides Congress and Experts Alike.

The RESTRICT Act, a Senate bill meant to restrict Chinese-owned app TikTok, is facing opposition from key senators and right-wing circles. The bill would give the Commerce Department and White House sweeping new powers to ban or restrict a wide range of communications and technology products coming from China. While the bill's chief sponsors, Sens. Mark Warner and John Thune, had convinced more than 20 of their colleagues to sign onto the bill, Senate Commerce Chair Maria Cantwell appears to be in no hurry to endorse it. Meanwhile, other bills targeting TikTok are percolating in the House.
