VP Harris Takes Action on AI Safety with Tech Executives

Vice President Kamala Harris met with the CEOs of Google, Microsoft, and two other AI companies to discuss the risks associated with AI development. The Biden administration announced a $140 million investment to establish seven new AI research institutes and the White House Office of Management and Budget is expected to issue guidance on how federal agencies can use AI tools. The UK is also looking at the risks associated with AI and is opening a review of the AI market. Companies that build or use AI are facing heightened scrutiny from US agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission and potentially tighter rules in the European Union.
