Father and Daughter Die of Dehydration in 100-Degree Heat at Canyonlands National Park

A father and daughter from Wisconsin were found dead in Canyonlands National Park, Utah, after running out of water while hiking in 100-degree heat. They had gotten lost on the strenuous Syncline Trail, which involves steep elevation changes and difficult navigation. The incident occurred during an intense heat wave affecting much of Utah, with temperatures breaking records. The National Park Service and San Juan County Sheriff's Office are investigating the deaths.
