Father drowns at Jersey Shore trying to save daughter from rip current.

A New York firefighter, Mark Batista, drowned while trying to save his teenage daughter who got caught in rough surf at the Jersey Shore. The daughter was rescued and is expected to recover. Batista was found submerged in water and later pronounced dead at the hospital. The FDNY confirmed Batista's death and issued a statement mourning his tragic passing. The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office warned swimmers not to go in the water when there are no lifeguards on duty.
