Tragedy strikes NJ beach over Memorial Day weekend with teen drowning and multiple rescues.

A 15-year-old boy drowned and five other people were pulled from the water at an unguarded section of Sandy Hook Beach in New Jersey on Memorial Day weekend. Bystanders and lifeguards from nearby areas raced to the scene to rescue the swimmers. The incident happened at a section of the beach without lifeguards on duty, and signs warned beachgoers of the lack of lifeguards. Last year, at least 28 people drowned in rivers, lakes, and the ocean in New Jersey.
