Tragic Loss: Rutland City Police Officer Killed in On-Duty Crash

Officer Jessica Ebbighausen, a 19-year-old part-time officer with the Rutland City Police Department, was killed in a car crash during a pursuit of a suspect. The suspect, Tate Rheaume, collided with Officer Ebbighausen's cruiser and another police cruiser. Two other officers and Rheaume were injured but their injuries are not life-threatening. The Vermont State Police is investigating the crash and working with the Rutland County state's attorney on potential charges. The police department is mourning the loss of Officer Ebbighausen, who had dreamed of becoming a police officer since she was 9 years old.
