Biden Showcases Rail Projects: Las Vegas to SoCal in a Day

President Joe Biden announced $3 billion in federal funds for the construction of a high-speed rail system between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The grant, awarded to Brightline West's $12 billion project, is part of $8.2 billion in federal funding for 10 major passenger rail projects across the country. The remaining cost of the 218-mile rail system will be covered by tax-exempt private activity bonds and private capital. Construction is set to begin in 2024, with the goal of having train service operating before the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. The trip between Las Vegas and L.A. is expected to take 2 hours and 40 minutes.
