Michigan man kills wife and six children, starts home blaze, then dies by suicide, authorities say

A 47-year-old man, Kristopher Karolkiewicz, fatally shot his wife Amanda (39) and their six children (ages 5–15) in their Grand Haven Township home in Michigan, then intentionally started fires in multiple areas of the residence before killing himself. Autopsies confirmed all victims died from gunshot wounds; authorities say the fire was set after the murders. Four biological children and two adopted 11-year-old girls were among the victims. Investigators from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Michigan State Police Fire Investigation Unit, are continuing to probe the case; Amanda Karolkiewicz was a substitute teacher, children’s book author, and advocate for special needs students.
