Nashville Reporter Detained by ICE While Covering Arrests
TL;DR
Estefany Rodriguez, a Nashville Noticias journalist who reports on ICE arrests, was detained by federal agents this week while riding in a car with her husband. ICE says she currently has no lawful immigration status despite a pending asylum claim and work permit, and she is being held for immigration proceedings. Her lawyers describe the arrest as retaliation for her coverage of ICE, highlighting concerns about press freedom as journalists are caught up in immigration enforcement during the crackdown.
