Florida Issues Apology for Early Morning Emergency Alert Test

The Florida Division of Emergency Management apologized for an early morning emergency alert test that woke up many residents at 4:45 a.m. on Thursday. The alert was not supposed to disturb people who were asleep and was meant to be on TV. The agency said it was taking appropriate action to remove the company responsible for submitting the alert. While some on social media explained how to stop getting these notifications, the emergency management division urged people not to turn them off, saying such alerts are important for public safety.
