79-Year-Old Man Hospitalized After Alligator Attack at Florida Golf Course

A 79-year-old man was hospitalized after being bitten by a nearly 7-foot-long alligator while on a walk at a golf course community in Naples, Florida. The man suffered a significant leg injury and was flown to a local hospital for treatment. The alligator, a 6 foot 9 inch female, was later trapped and removed from the area. Authorities reminded residents to be cautious around bodies of water and vegetation during alligator mating season. Florida is home to approximately 1.3 million alligators, and there were 11 recorded alligator bites on humans in the state in 2022, none of which were fatal.
