Rabies-infected moose causing concern in Alaska and Connecticut.

The first rabid moose in North America was killed by Alaska wildlife officials after it was seen acting aggressively towards humans in a small town. The moose tested positive for an Arctic fox variant of rabies, which is believed to have been contracted from a fox bite. Wildlife officials are now widening their surveillance efforts to track rabies and testing all brain samples from wild mammals found dead or euthanized in shelters across regions plagued by Arctic fox rabies within the past year.
