Mariners deal Castillo to White Sox for Dominguez, Jones, and Smith
TL;DR
The Mariners traded Luis Castillo to the White Sox for reliever Seranthony Dominguez, outfielder Nolan Jones, and catching prospect Boston Smith. Castillo’s extension runs through 2027 with a vesting option for 2028, and Chicago will absorb the remaining deal; Seattle takes on Dominguez’s salary for the next year (with a mutual option for 2028). The move is heavy on depth and salary relief rather than top-end upside, clearing the rotation logjam while giving Chicago a chance to contend in a weak AL Central.
