Capitals' Defensive Mastery Stifles Lightning in Key Victory
TL;DR
The Washington Capitals secured a 5-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning, extending their win streak to three games and closing in on the playoff race. Employing a strategic game plan that slowed down the pace and stymied the Lightning's offense, the Capitals capitalized on their penalty kill and saw standout performances from Alex Ovechkin, Connor McMichael, and goalie Charlie Lindgren. With the win, the Capitals now have 60 points on the season and are within five points of the Lightning for the second wild card spot.
