Houston Astros' All-Star second baseman, Jose Altuve, playing for Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic, sustained a fractured thumb after taking a 96 mph fastball from pitcher Daniel Bard to the hand. Altuve will need surgery on his broken thumb, and there's no timetable for his return.
