Cale Makar faces hearing for hit on Jared McCann in NHL playoffs.
TL;DR
Cale Makar, defenseman for the Colorado Avalanche, will have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety after a controversially downgraded major penalty for a late hit on Seattle Kraken forward Jared McCann. McCann left the game injured and has been ruled out for Game 5. Makar, who is not known for physical play, avoided an ejection and fans online were unhappy with the decision. The underdog Kraken have made life difficult for the Avalanche, and Makar's hit could add to the playoff series' intensity.
