Dick Groat, Former 2-Sport Star and Pirates Legend, Passes Away at 92.

Dick Groat, a two-sport star who played basketball and baseball professionally, has died at the age of 92. Groat was an All-American guard in basketball and an All-Star shortstop in baseball, winning the 1960 National League MVP while playing for his hometown Pittsburgh Pirates. He finished his 14-year baseball career with 2,138 hits and was inducted into the Pirates' Hall of Fame earlier this summer. Groat also played briefly in the NBA before serving in the military and ultimately focusing on baseball.
