Giants shore up interior line with veteran DT D.J. Reader

After trading Dexter Lawrence, the New York Giants signed veteran defensive tackle D.J. Reader to a two-year deal worth $12.5 million in base salary and up to $15.5 million with incentives. Reader, who turns 32 in July, spent 2025 with the Lions, starting all 17 games and recording 28 tackles and four QB hits, adding depth to the Giants’ trenches; over 10 seasons he has 12.5 sacks, 27 tackles for loss and 56 QB hits across teams in Houston, Cincinnati and Detroit.
