Lionel Messi was delayed for two hours by Chinese border control after travelling to Beijing with his Spanish passport instead of his Argentinian one. He reportedly used his Spanish passport due to thinking Taiwan was part of China. After being granted a visa, he was temporarily trapped in his Beijing hotel due to a large number of fans gathering outside to meet him.
