Mets Demote Struggling Brett Baty to Triple-A
TL;DR
The New York Mets have optioned third baseman Brett Baty to Triple A after his struggles at the plate and subpar defense in the majors. Baty, who was the No. 2 prospect in the Mets organization, has been hitting .216 with seven home runs and 27 RBIs in 311 plate appearances. The team hopes that Baty can reset and regain his form in the International League before returning to the majors later this season. In the meantime, fellow youngster Mark Vientos is expected to fill in at third base.
