NASCAR Fans Divided Over Chase Elliott Suspension and Apology Controversy

Denny Hamlin believes NASCAR's one-race suspension of Chase Elliott for wrecking him at Charlotte Motor Speedway was appropriate and that the sanctioning body is "putting a line in the sand" of what is acceptable on the track. Hamlin had advocated for Elliott to be suspended and said he was pleased with NASCAR's decision. The penalty was the same as NASCAR issued last year when Bubba Wallace made a similar move in wrecking Kyle Larson. NASCAR also issued a six-week suspension and $250,000 fine to Chase Briscoe's crew chief for a counterfeit part found on his car.
