Tense bunt ends Gavin Williams' perfect game bid as benches clear
TL;DR
Guardians' Gavin Williams carried a perfect game into the sixth when Diamondbacks utility man Tim Tawa attempted a bunt for a hit, triggering confrontations with Patrick Bailey and Brayan Rocchio and a benches-clearing delay; Tawa then singled on the next pitch to end the bid. Cleveland went on to win 5-0 as Williams struck out 10 in 5 2/3 innings, part of a run of double-digit strikeouts. The D-backs defended the bunt, and no suspensions are expected as both teams stay in postseason contention.
