Toronto Secures WNBA Expansion Team, Teresa Resch Named President

Toronto has been awarded the WNBA's first franchise outside the U.S., set to begin play in 2026. Larry Tanenbaum's Kilmer Sports Ventures is investing $115 million in the team, which will play at Coca-Cola Coliseum and occasionally at Scotiabank Arena. The WNBA board approved the expansion unanimously, except for the New York Knicks. The team aims to play games across Canada, with Teresa Resch named as president. The WNBA plans to expand to 16 teams by 2028, with potential new franchises in Portland, Philadelphia, Denver, Nashville, and South Florida.
