Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki secure US Open wild cards

Venus Williams, 43, has received a wild card from the United States Tennis Association to compete in her 24th US Open, which begins on August 28. Williams, a former world No. 1, returned to competition this summer after a six-month injury layoff and recorded her first top-20 win in four years. Caroline Wozniacki, another former No. 1, was also granted a wild card. Other wild-card recipients include John Isner and several promising young American players.
